After being open for a little over month in our new Factoria + Cafe, we made the unfortunate but necessary decision on March 16th to shut down the cafe and the majority of our operations in order to do our small part in helping to stop the spread of COVID-19. While technically deemed an essential business as a food manufacturer and cafe we decided that the best course of action this last month was to completely close down our retail side and limit operations to a very limited amount of production and online orders to help protect our employees and local community.
While we know this was the right decision to make, it was a decision that has drastically impacted our business, creating a lot of insecurity on how to move forward or if we will be able to survive this. Through conversations with other small businesses owners in similar if not worse situations we realized that the best way to tackle this crisis was to work together. We've decided to team up with some of our favorite locally owned small businesses to bring you the RISE Westwood Collective. Together we aim to support each other in overcoming this crisis by combining resources, and bringing in and keeping money in our local community.
On this online mercadito you will be able to learn more about each of the partners that make up the RISE Westwood Collective and also how you can support them during this difficult time. Each partner will list products that they currently have for sale and you can place an order on this site from multiple small businesses at once for either curbside pick up or delivery. All the funds paid towards a product goes back to each individual business with only a 5% commission fee retained by the RISE Westwood Collective to cover credit card processing fees and site maintenance.
To start, curbside pick up and delivery will be available on Fridays from 2pm-6pm with no minimum order requirement. Addresses with a 80219 zipcode will receive FREE delivery, other addresses within 5 miles from our home base (3742 Morrison Rd, Denver, CO 80219) will have a $5 flat delivery charge. Any order over $`100 will also receive free delivery on their order. If you are located further than 5 miles from our storefront but are interested in delivery, please reach out and we will see if delivery is possible and if there will be an additional small fee. If you would like your order delivered please make sure add the Delivery item to your shopping cart, otherwise we will assume you will be picking up your order.
In order to give each of our partners enough time to get your orders together and help minimize contact, we will be cutting off orders at noon on Thursdays, to have at least 24 hours to get your orders ready for pick up or delivery on Fridays. Orders placed after this time may not be available until the following week. For all orders, an email will be immediately sent to confirm the order. If for some reason, an item in your order cannot be fulfilled we will email you within 24 hours and see if you would like to exchange the item with something else, proceed without the item, or cancel the order entirely. New partners are being introduced and products may be limited and change week by week, so we recommend checking back regularly to see what we have available.
These past few weeks, through COVID-19 relief funding, local nonprofit, Re:vision, has partnered with us and some of the other small businesses that are part of the of the RISE Westwood Collective to create the RISE Westwood Emergency Food Access Program. This program helps by financially supporting the small businesses while creating approximately 200 free meals a day to help feed the local community. These meals are predominately distributed through onsite pick ups by the local community and bulk deliveries to assisted living facilities, however to help better support the local community and the people who are unable to pick up meals from our site, we are offering FREE local meal delivery to those who live in the Westwood neighborhood during our delivery window on Fridays between 2-6pm.
